Our client, a leading financial services firm, is seeking a Corporate Actions Operations Specialist to support a transformation initiative focused on voluntary corporate actions across equities, fixed income, and other securities. This role partners with internal teams and external vendors to design and implement a new corporate actions operating model, enhance automation, and strengthen processes, testing, and controls to optimize workflows. Following transformation, the specialist will support ongoing corporate actions processing to ensure accurate, timely, and efficient execution. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical and communication skills, and a proactive, solutions‑oriented mindset.
Job Title: Corporate Actions Operations Specialist
Location: Baltimore, MD or Owings Mills, MD
Pay Range: $70/hr - $75/hr W2
Job Type: Contract (Potential for Long-Term or Contract-to-Hire)
What's the Job?
- Oversee the identification, analysis, and processing of voluntary corporate actions events, including mergers, acquisitions, dividends, stock splits, tender offers, and reorganizations.
- Serve as subject matter expert on corporate actions, partnering closely with vendors and stakeholders to design, implement, and refine a new corporate action process, focusing on operational efficiency, automation, and risk reduction.
- Develop and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and risk mitigation, ensuring compliance with requirements and controls throughout the corporate actions lifecycle.
- Liaise with custodians, vendors, portfolio managers and counterparties to resolve discrepancies and ensure accurate information flow.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators, issues, and risks related to corporate actions.
- Lead or participate in projects involving system enhancements, technology upgrades, and workflow optimization of corporate action event lifecycle management.
What's Needed?
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in finance, operations, or related field with at least 8+ years of relevant experience within financial services, asset management, or securities operations, and preferred past-supervisory experience within the financial industry.
- Deep hands-on expertise in voluntary corporate actions and direct experience in end-to-end lifecycle event management of voluntary events (must have direct experience with voluntary events and working with custodians - not just exposure to mandatory events).
- Adept in defining, designing, and mapping financial processes - including implementing controls, safeguarding, identifying risks, and business process management (BPM) mapping.
- Proven ability to drive process improvements and manage change effectively, with experience in agile implementation and driving enhancement of systematic workflows.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills with ability to deliver within tight deadlines, ensuring accuracy, precision, and efficiency.
- Experience working with external vendors to develop or optimize operational processes (such as BNY or S&P).
- Proficiency with relevant systems and tools, including using AI technology to optimize and enhance processes.
