Originally a traditional paper/book publishing company of materials for Catholic churches, our client has expanded its materials to include digital media, music, video, and audio. The client’s goal was to modernize its offerings and increase its digital sales. It had a critical need to pool and monitor sales data on its paper and digital products that resided in separate sales data sources. Sales data was only visible once a month without OLAP capabilities. To grow and transform the organization, the client needed sales data at their fingertips to make business decisions, versus relying on anecdotal information.
The project was completed in two stages: a discovery phase and an execution phase. Discovery established the logical SQL Server data models and transformation required to create the data warehouse cubes. In the execution phase, Experis built the cubes using Microsoft SSAS. The dashboard, developed using Performance Point and Reporting Services/OLAP/Excel Services reports, was delivered in a SharePoint 2010 site. Our services included: data warehouse, SharePoint installation, data repository, performance point, dashboard and reporting.
The client achieved: interactive and product sales reporting is refreshed daily versus monthly, sales data that is contained in one OLAP environment instead of separate systems, a production dashboard, and significant BI knowledge.
