Our client is seeking a Technical Writer to join their team. As a Technical Writer, you will be part of the CPU Core Documentation function supporting the CPU and SOC design community. The ideal candidate will have strong collaboration and teamwork, excellent verbal and written communication, and an energized, responsible approach to AI-assisted technical writing which will align successfully in the organization.
Job Title:Technical Writer/CPU Documentation Engineer
Location:Austin, TX - Onsite Role
Pay Range:$80 to $85 on W2
What's the Job?
- Own end-to-end delivery of technical documentation for CPU Cores, from drafting through publication.
- Create, edit, drive legal and technical reviews, and publish technical documentation (errata, data-books, white papers, application notes, Processor Programming Reference, and web page content) using revision control and established document processes.
- Use large language models and AI-assisted authoring tools to draft, summarize, restructure, and copy-edit technical content—while performing rigorous human review, fact-checking, and validation against design source-of-truth before anything ships.
- Build and maintain AI-enabled documentation workflows, including prompt libraries, reusable prompt templates, retrieval over internal design collateral, and scripted or agentic pipelines that reduce manual effort in the documentation toolchain.
- Partner with the CPU design team to structure and maintain design files that feed the documentation delivery process, ensuring content is machine-readable and consumable by AI tooling.
What's Needed?
- Hands-on experience using AI/LLM tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, or equivalent) in a professional technical writing or engineering workflow, including strong prompt engineering and critical evaluation of outputs.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate AI into day-to-day production work with clear judgment on when to trust, verify, or reject generated content.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and OpenOffice software.
- Experience automating tasks with scripting languages such as Python, Perl, Ruby, or similar.
- Working knowledge of structured documentation formats (e.g., XML, ODT, or similar) and revision control systems (e.g., Perforce, CVS, Subversion, Git, or equivalent).
What's in it for me?
- Work on modern, high-impact technical documentation that connects CPU design to the broader design community.
- Use AI tooling to accelerate drafting, review, validation, and publication—while staying the accountable human authority for technical accuracy and quality.
- Help build reusable AI documentation workflows (prompt libraries, retrieval, and automation) that improve consistency and reduce manual effort.
- Strengthen documentation quality at scale through terminology/style enforcement, cross-reference validation, gap analysis, and readiness for localization.
- Collaborate closely with design teams to ensure documentation inputs are structured for machine-readability and reliable downstream publishing.
